What if my dog has special behavioral or medical needs?

We KNOW dogs! Having fostered, boarded and trained hundreds of dogs, working in veterinary medicine and professional dog training, not much scares us these days! We are comfortable handling dogs with behavioral and medical needs.

*If you have a dog with behavioral concerns, contact us to discuss your pets individual situation/needs.*

How will my dog be socialized during their stay?

We get it, not all dogs are the same! We base our playgroups on play style and size, and ensure all play is mutual. Have a couch potato? No worries, we’ll take it easy! Have a go-getter, run til you drop kinda dog? We’ve got it covered! If you dog prefers human companionship over playing with other dogs that's okay too! Individual play time is available for dogs who need it at no additional cost.

Will I be able to check-in on my pet?

We keep you in the know! Every day our pet parents are updated with photos/videos via text, email or Facebook. If you’re missing your best friend, feel free to reach out!

Are there additional fees for playtime during my pet’s stay?

Playtime is included! Our boarding prices includes play time. There are no additional fees to play all day.

What You Need To Know

All drop offs and pickups are done by appointment only. This helps ensure a smooth and stress-free drop off and pickup for your pet. With multiple pooches in our facility, unscheduled appointments have the potential for canine chaos! We do things this way for a reason, to keep all dogs happy and safe. When you come to visit, you are not only coming to our business, but also our home. We have personal errands, meal times and complete daily tasks around our clients' and dogs' schedules. Most days we are very flexible with pickup and drop off times given proper notice.

Required Paperwork and Other Items

When bringing your pet to board with us, we require a copy of vaccination records, our Boarding Forms and Enrichment Agreement, a supply of their normal diet and any medications they may be taking. We do not recommend changing your dog’s food prior to boarding, as a change in food can upset their tummy. You are welcome to send your pet's special blanket if you'd like, as well as toys and treats, but do not feel obligated. We have plenty of extras to share.

Please do not send your pet's bowls, it is much easier for us to use FDF Canine Services supplies, as many stainless-steel bowls look the same once in the dishwasher. We recommend not sending any bedding you are extremely attached to - sometimes dogs get nervous when boarding and may nibble on your special blanket.

We require all dogs to be current on Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper combo (DHPP) vaccinations. You can bring a hard copy of vaccination records at drop off, or have your veterinarian email a copy to us at fdfcanineservices@gmail.com. Your pet will not be accepted without proof of current vaccinations.

Emergencies or Medical Needs

While most canine guests that stay with us never have an issue, boarding does not come without risks. Similar to sending your children to daycare, accidents can happen where injuries or illnesses may occur. While we do everything in our power to prevent these things, they can unfortunately still happen. The most common issues with boarding tend to be mild stress-related diarrhea or vomiting, nips or scratches from playing, allergies from grass/weeds or lack of appetite. If you dog does not seem to be adjusting well to boarding, you or your emergency contact will be contacted to arrange for alternative boarding options. Please be sure to read our boarding agreement to be fully aware of your responsibility in these events.

If your dog requires a veterinarian while with us, we prefer to use our veterinarians as they are familiar with FDF Canine Services and can be reached on short notice. If we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact and your pet needs life-saving, emergency veterinary care, they will be treated as our own and receive the care they need. You will be responsible for your pet's veterinary fees should an issue arise.
